Choosing your study plan correctly is one of the most important steps in your application. UCT Prague offers a wide range of courses across various fields, from technical chemistry to economics and management.
Before creating your Learning Agreement, research courses in your field that align with your degree requirements and learning goals. Check descriptions, credit values, and prerequisites. Only choose courses listed in the Course Catalogue below! To see the syllabi, search the Student Information System (SIS).
Reach out to the Department of International Relations (incoming@vscht.cz) at both your home institution and UCT Prague. Seek guidance to ensure your chosen courses will transfer seamlessly and count towards your degree.
Understand the credit transfer process. Make sure you know the minimum and maximum credit requirements for your exchange. The minimum required at UCT Prague is 20 ECTS per semester.
Your final schedule will be known during enrollment. Stick to the rules provided by our International Relations office via email to avoid clashes. We cannot guarantee a 100% clash-free schedule in advance, so always have backup course options ready. You can adjust your study plan during the first 3 weeks of the semester.
Challenge yourself, but keep your schedule manageable. Consider the workload and difficulty level of each course to maintain a balanced academic life.
Exchange is also about culture! Consider taking courses that introduce you to Czech culture, history, or language (e.g., Czech Language course or Czech History and Culture).
Once finalized, obtain approvals from your home institution’s international office and academic advisors. Ensure your Learning Agreement is signed by all parties from your side before sending it to UCT Prague.
Colours in the Course Catalogue indicate the faculty. Please note that the capacity of courses is limited and UCT Prague cannot guarantee that all courses will open (it depends on the number of registered students).
To prevent timetable overlaps, follow these faculty combination rules:
- Stay within your level: Choose only Bachelor’s (Code AB) or Master’s (Code AM). Combining them leads to overlaps.
- Grading: UCT Prague uses the ECTS grading scale and credit system.
- Changes: Final course offers are confirmed on Enrollment Day. Changes to LA are allowed during the first 3 weeks of the semester.
Interested in a research project? You can choose from three types: Project A (30 ECTS), Project B (15 ECTS), or Project C (10 ECTS).
Personal initiative is highly appreciated. Address potential supervisors directly or ask Faculty Coordinators for help. Send your CV, Motivation Letter, and Transcript of Records to the supervisor/coordinator and CC: incoming@vscht.cz.
In your email, clearly state:
• Your area of interest / topic of work
• Suitable Faculty and/or Department
• Your laboratory experience & academic background
• UCT Prague supervisor's name
• Type of Project (A, B, or C)
⚠️ IMPORTANT: If you do not have a supervisor before arrival, you must delete the project from your LA and replace it with courses. Once accepted, cancellation is only possible in exceptional cases due to reserved lab capacity and coworkers' time.
Chemistry courses: Most take place at Dejvická campus (access to labs, research facilities, library, and canteens).
Economics courses: Located at School of Business (Jankovcova street). It is approx. 30 minutes by tram from Dejvická.
Working in laboratories involves contact with chemicals. You must submit a signed Medical Assessment of Fitness to Study together with your application documents. Missing this might delay your lab access.
Please note that once you are accepted for a project, cancellation is only possible in exceptional cases and must be announced well in advance. Our laboratories reserve specific workspace, instruments, and staff time for you, often resulting in the rejection of other applicants. Last-minute cancellations are highly disruptive to our research planning and resources.
If you need assistance finding a supervisor or have faculty-specific questions, please reach out to the respective coordinator:
