What is Erasmus+?
Erasmus+ is a European programme that supports education, training, youth, and sport. Through Erasmus+, students can study or do a traineeship abroad, gain international experience, and improve their academic and professional skills.

If your home university has an Erasmus+ agreement with UCT Prague, you can come to study with us for one or two semesters as an exchange student. The programme covers tuition fees and often provides a grant to help with living costs during your stay.

IAESTE (The International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience) is a global non-profit organisation that provides paid, course-related internships abroad for students in science, engineering, technology, and applied arts.

Through the IAESTE programme, students can gain valuable international work experience, develop professional skills, and explore new cultures. Since its founding in 1948, IAESTE has connected students and employers in more than 90 countries, making it one of the world’s largest and most established internship networks.

If you are interested, you can also come to UCT Prague for a traineeship through IAESTE and work in one of our university laboratories or departments.

CEEPUS (Central European Exchange Program for University Studies) is an academic exchange programme that connects universities across Central and Eastern Europe. Established in 1994, CEEPUS supports the mobility of students and academic staff, promotes joint research, and strengthens regional cooperation in higher education.

Through the CEEPUS network, students can study or do research at partner universities in countries such as Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, and several others.

You can also come to UCT Prague for one or two semesters under a CEEPUS scholarship, join international projects, and experience life in the heart of Europe.

The ATHENS Programme (Advanced Technology Higher Education Network) is an international exchange initiative launched in 1997. It brings together leading European universities that organize week-long intensive courses in science, engineering, and technology.

The courses take place twice a year — in March and November — and are taught in English, French, or Spanish. Each course includes around 30 hours of lectures, seminars, and excursions, complemented by 12–15 hours of cultural activities, allowing students to also experience the culture and environment of the host country.

UCT Prague is part of this network together with the Czech Technical University in Prague. We organize two ATHENS courses in November and one in March, all taught in English.

Applications can be submitted via the official ATHENS website, where UCT Prague courses are listed together with those of the Czech Technical University.

The International Visegrad Fund was established in 2000 by the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia — known together as the Visegrad Group (V4). The Fund’s main goal is to promote closer cooperation among V4 countries and to strengthen relations with other regions, especially the Western Balkans and Eastern Partnership countries.

Visegrad Scholarships are available for Master’s and PhD students from eligible countries who are accepted for a study stay at UCT Prague. Scholarships are offered both to students from Visegrad countries (Intra-Visegrad Scholarships) and from Eastern Partnership countriesArmenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine.

Application process
Applications are accepted once a year, with a deadline on 31 January. The entire process is managed by the Visegrad Fund, while UCT Prague assists applicants with the acceptance letter and working plan, which are part of the application.

For more information about eligibility, conditions, and the application portal, please visit the Visegrad Fund website.

The AKTION Programme supports bilateral cooperation between the Czech Republic and Austria in the fields of education and research. It promotes joint research projects, academic exchanges, and scholarships for students, lecturers, and researchers from both countries.

Austrian students can apply for AKTION scholarships to fund their study stay or traineeship in the Czech Republic. Several scholarship rounds are available each year, and deadlines depend on the specific type of scholarship.

The programme is jointly administered by OeAD (Austrian Agency for International Cooperation in Education and Research) and DZS (Czech National Agency for International Education and Research).

Students who receive an AKTION scholarship and plan to spend their stay at UCT Prague should contact the Department of International Relations for detailed information about the administrative process.

For full information on current scholarship calls and applications, visit the AKTION Programme website.

The Freemover Exchange Programme allows students to independently arrange their study abroad experience at a university of their choosing, regardless of whether our university has an established exchange agreement with that institution. This programme is ideal for students seeking specific academic programs and unique cultural experiences or who wish to explore countries not covered by formal exchange partnerships.

While the Freemover Exchange Programme offers flexibility, it requires careful planning and research to ensure a successful and fulfilling experience.
