UCT Prague’s Department of International Relations will send you an informative e-mail before your arrival, asking you to schedule a meeting with both the Department and your UCT supervisor.


Acceptance and Documentation

You are officially accepted for the traineeship once your Learning Agreement is fully signed by all parties. Before traveling to Prague, please ensure you have sent all requested documents to the Department of International Relations and applied for your accommodation.

📩 Confirmation of Acceptance:

A Letter of Acceptance will be sent to the International Relations Office at your university upon request.

Important: If you decide to withdraw from the exchange programme for any reason, please inform the Department of International Relations at incoming@vscht.cz as soon as possible.

🏠 Confirmation of Accommodation

UCT Residence Halls: You will be informed via email about your application status approximately 2–4 weeks before arrival.

Private Accommodation: Be aware of scammers and false advertisements! We highly suggest never paying anything before seeing the flat and signing a contract.

The Department of International Relations requires you to confirm the exact date of your arrival in Prague.

Student Visa

Non-EU students must apply for a student visa at the Czech Embassy or Consulate. Prepare the necessary documents, such as:

  • Acceptance letter & Passport
  • Proof of sufficient funds
  • Any additional embassy requirements

Before arriving in the Czech Republic, ensure you have completed these essential tasks for a smooth transition to your academic journey at UCT Prague.

Health & Liability Insurance

EU Students: Use your EHIC card for emergency care. Check with your provider if additional coverage for serious illness/injury is needed. More info here.
Non-EU Students: Proof of travel medical insurance is required for your visa. More info here.

Liability Insurance: Covers accidental damage to others or property. A copy will be requested by the IR Department.

Medical History

Complete the Medical History Form with your doctor before arrival and bring it with you.

Important: If you have an acute respiratory infection, you cannot see a UCT Prague physician without a prior appointment. Contact us to schedule one.

Finances & Travel

The currency is Czech Koruna (CZK). Check exchange rates before swapping money. Prague is generally more affordable than other major EU cities, but manage your budget wisely.

Public Transportation (MHD)

Prague's network is one of the best in Europe. Use the metro, trams, buses, or suburban trains. Check schedules and rules on the Prague Public Transit website (DPP).

If you have been accepted for project work, you are expected to contact your supervisor before you arrive. Inform them about your arrival and arrange your first meeting.

🤝 Request a Buddy

A "buddy" is a student volunteer who helps you settle in. They can pick you up at the airport, accompany you to your residence, and show you around Prague. The Buddy Program is a free volunteer service and is very popular, so apply early!
